Attaullah Tarar blames PTI for PIA's financial ruin

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar blamed the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf administration for financial damage to Pakistan International Airlines during remarks outside the Islamabad High Court on Friday. The minister accused the previous government of making reckless statements that cost the national carrier billions of rupees. European and British authorities recently ended flight restrictions against Pakistani airlines after maintaining bans for five years following a 2020 aircraft accident and revelations about questionable pilot credentials. Tarar announced that PIA operations to Europe and Britain have resumed under the present administration.

The minister condemned what he described as severe administrative failures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He characterized the regional government as plagued by widespread graft and poor management practices. Tarar discussed efforts to rescue Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company and preserve employment for approximately 300 workers. The court has demanded a detailed recovery strategy for the struggling media firm. Judicial authorities have ordered the company's liquidator to distribute overdue wages to staff members.
