Austrian Audio OC616 brings dual CKR12 capsule tech to a mid-tier price point. This large-diaphragm condenser sits between the OC16 and flagship OC818 with simplified features but identical core components. Open Acoustic Technology eliminates internal reflections for transparent three-dimensional capture across five selectable polar patterns.
Voicing targets clear and assertive character rather than smooth studio warmth like its expensive siblings. Three high-pass filters and switchable pads handle everything from intimate vocals to 157dB guitar amps without distortion. Dynamic range hits 134dB while omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, and figure-eight options cover diverse recording scenarios.
Pre-orders start at £499 or €599, including VAT, for this punchy multi-pattern workhorse. Martin Seidl describes the sound as clean and direct, with signature depth that engineers trust. Budget-conscious producers get flagship capsule performance without paying top-tier pricing for unnecessary complexity in their signal chain.
