Ayariga says Mahama got CJ removal sorted

Parliament leader Mahama Ayariga defends President John Mahama against criticism about removing Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo. Ayariga says the president followed all constitutional rules during the removal process. The Bawku Central MP told reporters Wednesday that some complaints against the Chief Justice came during the previous government. He believes people cannot blame President Mahama for continuing a process that others started. Ayariga insists that Ghana's Constitution provides clear directions for leaders to follow.

The majority leader dismisses public criticism about lawyers handling the Chief Justice case. He says personal attacks and speculation do not change constitutional requirements. Ayariga argues that people should focus on whether officials follow proper procedures instead of attacking individuals. The lawmaker believes the removal process remains valid regardless of public opinion. He thinks constitutional rules matter more than what critics say about the situation.

The Supreme Court rejected Chief Justice Torkonoo's request to stop her removal completely. Five judges heard her case and ruled against her without any disagreement. The court decision allows Parliament to continue the constitutional removal process. Ayariga views this ruling as confirmation that the procedure adheres to legal requirements. The majority leader believes the court decision supports his argument about following constitutional rules.
