Ayew Says Unity Cup Loss Fueled Four Zero TT Smash

Ghana captain Jordan Ayew found bright spots after his team missed winning the Unity Cup tournament. The Black Stars lost 2-1 to Nigeria during their semifinal match at Gtech Community Stadium. Ghana recovered quickly and crushed Trinidad and Tobago 4-0 for third place. The Leicester City striker praised his teammates for bouncing back from the Nigeria defeat. These games helped prepare Ghana for September World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali.

Ayew admitted Ghana started poorly against Nigeria but improved greatly during the second half. The team created many scoring chances but failed to convert them against their West African rivals. Ghana wanted the Unity Cup trophy but fell just short of their goal. The captain highlighted four goals scored and zero goals allowed against Trinidad and Tobago as major positives. Ghana created numerous opportunities and played well across both Unity Cup matches despite the disappointing semifinal result.
