BET Awards officials named their 2025 candidates on May 8. Five Nigerian stars made the cut: Burna Boy, Tems, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Shallipopi. Ayra Starr grabbed three chances to win Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act. Tems earned two spots in the BET Her group for her songs Burning and Hold On. The other three artists each received one nomination.
