Ayurveda Day goes global, says CSIR-NIScPR chief scientist

Scientists gathered at CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research on October 15 to observe the 10th Ayurveda Day, and they discussed challenges facing the traditional medicine system. Chief Scientist Naresh Kumar emphasized the need for practitioners to combat false information, advocating for standardized formulations while cautioning against product adulteration. The Ministry of Ayush shifted the annual celebration from the lunar calendar date of Dhanteras to Sept. 23 to establish consistent global participation.

Dr. Kishore Patel from Central Ayurveda Research Institute explained how lifestyle factors cause illness, and he promoted balanced nutrition through ancient wellness concepts. Professor Ranjana Aggarwal noted that India's scientific heritage connects natural sciences with social disciplines. Rajesh Kumar Singh Roshan traced Ayurveda's historical development through physicians like Acharya Nagarjuna. The institute hosted lectures under the SVASTIK program to share validated traditional knowledge with the public.
