Aziegbemi's PDP gets wet in Edo, calls it a huge victory

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party demonstrated strong commitment during Saturday's ward congresses across Edo State's 192 electoral divisions. Despite torrential weather conditions, party supporters gathered early to select new leadership and delegates through democratic processes. Dr Tony Aziegbemi, the state's interim party leader, supervised activities alongside representatives from the national headquarters in Abuja. The electoral exercise proceeded without incidents at monitored locations in Benin City's Oredo divisions. Party members arrived at venues by 7:30 AM, showing remarkable dedication to the democratic process.

Officials elected seventeen-member executive committees during the well-attended gatherings throughout the state. Mr Tariga Tulagha, who chairs the Ward Congress Electoral Committee, commended participants for their lawful conduct and peaceful behavior. The substantial voter participation surprised organizers who had worried about weather-related absences. Party leadership expressed optimism about future electoral prospects, citing current governmental performance as advantageous for opposition forces. These organizational activities represent preparatory steps for upcoming political campaigns and strengthen grassroots party infrastructure.
