Authorities in Gweru are searching for an individual who abducted a two-month-old infant from the central business district. Faith Jakaza, 26, had finished nursing her daughter and briefly stepped away to purchase bananas from a vendor, leaving the baby with her six-year-old sibling.
Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, speaking for Midlands Police, said the older child reported someone had taken the infant during those moments. The mother raised an alarm and began searching the area.
Police are requesting public assistance to locate the suspect and recover the child. Mahoko emphasized that caregivers should maintain constant supervision of young children to prevent similar incidents.
