Bafana beat Zambia 3-1 in Gqeberha friendly

South Africa defeated Zambia 3-1 in an international friendly at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha as Bafana Bafana continued preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. Oswin Appollis opened scoring before halftime with a strike from the penalty area edge, while second-half substitute Mohau Nkota curled in a long-range effort, and Sphephelo Sithole converted a corner kick header. Joseph Sabobo pulled back a late consolation goal for the visitors during stoppage time.

Coach Hugo Broos praised midfielder Teboho Mokoena for reaching 50 international appearances, describing him as among the most important players in the national team setup. Zambian interim manager Perry Mtapa acknowledged Bafana Bafana's development under Belgian leadership over the past four years. South African Football Association President Danny Jordaan commended the squad's performance ahead of continental competition.

Sipho Mbule provided assists on two goals as the hosts maintained possession dominance and extended their unbeaten streak to six matches.
