Balochistan is on high alert as the government races to boost flood emergency response

Balochistan authorities activated emergency response protocols throughout the province after Director General Jahanzaib Khan announced comprehensive disaster preparedness measures Friday. Provincial Disaster Management Authority mobilized district teams under Deputy Commissioners to coordinate flood response operations. These units collaborate with health, irrigation, police and livestock departments across vulnerable regions. District administrations received authority to purchase private equipment and access emergency funding for immediate rescue needs. Relief supplies supporting over 300 families per district have been positioned strategically across Balochistan.

Recent monsoon flooding caused 16 fatalities across the province, with casualties spanning five men, four women and seven children. Eight additional people sustained injuries during the weather emergency. Flood damage destroyed or compromised 66 residential structures while affecting four public infrastructure locations. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised disaster management performance and emphasized protecting lives and property as the government's primary objective. The provincial contingency plan received approval on June 12 to strengthen regional disaster readiness capabilities.
