Bangladesh Air Force jet crash in Dhaka kills 27, most victims are schoolchildren

Authorities confirmed 27 fatalities from Monday's military aircraft accident in Bangladesh's capital city. A training jet from the Air Force struck a school building during afternoon classes. Emergency officials reported that 25 students died from severe burn wounds. The remaining victims were the aircraft pilot and one female educator.

Medical personnel treat 78 survivors across multiple hospitals throughout Dhaka. Five patients remain in critical condition according to hospital administrators. Most casualties suffered extensive burns when the F-7 BGI fighter crashed into Milestone School and College. The two-story building housed elementary students during regular class periods.

The aircraft departed at 1:06 PM before striking the educational facility around 1:30 PM. Fire services and military units responded immediately to extract survivors from the wreckage. Officials confirmed that 171 people sustained injuries from the crash. DNA samples were collected from six unidentified bodies while families received 20 victims for burial.
