Bangladesh and Malaysia struck a deal to team up against terror suspects after several citizens got nabbed across the border. Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain hammered out the agreement with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan during high-level talks in Kuala Lumpur. The pair met on the sidelines of the massive ASEAN Regional Forum gathering that brought together diplomats from across Asia. Hossain demanded full access to the arrested individuals while promising to share intelligence with Malaysian authorities. The Malaysian minister pledged complete cooperation and guaranteed that Bangladeshi officials could interrogate their detained nationals.
Hossain also sat down with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy for separate discussions about regional challenges. The two leaders tackled everything from government reforms back home to the ongoing Rohingya refugee mess that continues plaguing the region. Additional meetings with top diplomats from New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Korea rounded out a busy day of international wheeling and dealing. These sessions covered trade partnerships and security concerns affecting multiple countries.
