Bangladesh women eye England clash after Pakistan rout

After defeating Pakistan by seven wickets in their Women’s World Cup opener, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team is preparing to face England in their next match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty told reporters that the team aims to remain composed, minimize errors, and play their natural game rather than feeling pressure from the occasion.

Bangladesh has met England only once in women’s cricket, losing by 100 runs at the 2022 World Cup. Joty noted that the team has since gained valuable experience by playing more matches against strong opponents at home and abroad, which has boosted their confidence and belief. She said the World Cup offers a good chance to showcase their progress and highlighted that upcoming fixtures against leading teams will further develop the squad.

Joty added that the team will use data from analysts to plan their approach against England and will consider tactical changes to the lineup depending on pitch conditions and the opponent’s strengths. She praised young pacer Marufa Akter’s growth and urged her to focus on performing for the team, emphasizing the importance of unity and execution in all aspects of the game to achieve success.
