Barbados shrugs at the US deportee idea and says wait

Barbados is apparently waiting for its turn to accept American deportees. Foreign Affairs Minister Kerrie Symmonds admitted that Washington hasn't called yet to demand that they host third-country nationals. While neighbors like Saint Lucia and Dominica already signed deals to house foreign citizens kicked out of America, local officials claim their phone remains silent. The government refuses to discard the possibility completely despite having zero formal offers.

Symmonds sounded pretty unenthusiastic about the whole situation. He remarked that the Trump administration seems to be making rounds in the Caribbean, but Barbados hasn't been hit up. The diplomat stated that they plan to deal with that specific problem if it ever arises. It sounds like they are bracing for impact rather than volunteering.

Other islands are already setting strict boundaries on who gets let in. Antigua and Barbuda made it clear they want zero people with criminal records. Dominica is apparently trying to avoid violent individuals who might wreck national security. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit linked these deals to fixing visa issues with the Americans.
