Barcelona's boy wonder Gavi is broken again

Barcelona midfielder Gavi underwent arthroscopic surgery after damaging cartilage in his right knee during an August training session. The 21-year-old Spain international had participated in the club's first two league matches before sustaining the injury. Medical scans eliminated concerns about a repeated anterior cruciate ligament rupture, which had previously sidelined him for eleven months following a November 2023 international duty incident. Surgeons repaired the medial meniscus through a suturing procedure designed to preserve the tissue structure. The club anticipates his return within four to five months.

Gavi established himself as Barcelona's fourth youngest debutant when he joined the first team in 2021. His career statistics reflect 10 goals across 155 appearances while helping secure five major trophies for the Catalan side. Barcelona currently occupies second position in La Liga standings, trailing Real Madrid by five points despite holding one match advantage. The midfielder's absence represents another setback for a squad navigating competitive pressures across multiple tournaments this campaign.
