Battlefield 6 beta reworks classes, introduces skill checks

Electronic Arts has released the preload files for Battlefield 6's first Open Beta weekend across all gaming platforms. Steam users must download approximately 39 gigabytes of data before the testing period begins. Early access participants can start playing on Thursday, August 7, while the general Open Beta launches on Saturday, August 9. The development team has modified several character classes based on previous feedback from Battlefield Labs testing.

The Assault class receives significant updates with new team-focused abilities and equipment transfers. Developers moved the Spawn Beacon from Recon to Assault class to enhance frontline coordination. A new Assault Ladder gadget allows squads to reach elevated positions and create tactical advantages. The Recon class gains Spec Ops training options and an Active Ability that deploys reconnaissance drones for enemy detection.

Matchmaking algorithms will consider multiple variables when connecting players to servers. The system evaluates network latency, geographic location, server capacity, and player skill metrics to create balanced matches for participants.
