Bayor hails CAF cash surge as Black Queens crumble in Berkane

Former Black Queens captain Adjoa Bayor has gone wild over the massive cash boost for women's African football. The Confederation of African Football doubled the winner's prize money and raised the overall prize pool by 45 percent for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Bayor reckons the move shows African football bosses are finally getting serious about backing women's teams. She told CAFOnline that the financial changes are huge and the organization side has improved dramatically. The prize money has jumped to a whopping one million dollars which Bayor calls absolutely massive from CAF.

Ghana made their comeback to the tournament after staying away for six long years but things went badly wrong. The Black Queens got hammered 2-0 by South Africa in their first Group C match and looked completely out of their depth. The team desperately needs to get back on track when they face Mali on Friday July 11. The crucial match takes place at the Stade Municipal de Berkane with kickoff set for 16:00 GMT. Ghana's players know they must bounce back fast or risk another early exit from the competition.
