Beijing rages at Trump blocking Chinese buys of US farmland

China responded strongly to America's new farm purchase restrictions. Beijing officials called the rules unfair and said they violate global trade laws. Chinese leaders argued that these measures would harm America more than they would help it. They demanded that Washington stop mixing politics with business deals. The firm reply came after Trump's administration announced these tough new limits.

America's farm chief Brooke Rollins disclosed the security plan on Tuesday. She expressed concern about Chinese groups buying American farmland for dangerous motives. The government aims to recover land already purchased from American farmers by China. Rollins stated that foreign adversaries pose real threats to food safety. The new rules focus on China and other rival nations.

Chinese companies currently rank 20th among foreign farm owners in America. They control about 277,336 acres across the country as of late 2023. The largest Chinese farm owner remains Smithfield Foods, which was reacquired by WH Group in 2013. Government records indicate that many other countries own much more American farmland than China, yet the restrictions specifically target Chinese buyers among all foreign groups.

Mao Ning from China's foreign ministry condemned these discriminatory moves. She accused America of violating free market principles with political decisions. The spokeswoman called for immediate changes to this unfair policy. Chinese officials see these restrictions as another tactic in trade war. Both nations continue to clash over economic control and national security issues.
