Beitbridge to brighten up crime hotspots, tower lights get the green light

Beitbridge municipality is dropping tower lights all over town after cops and locals complained about robberies popping off in pitch-black neighborhoods. Town Clerk Loud Ramakgapola said the council cut a deal with Econet to use their cell towers for the setup, and they budgeted for five units next year. Newly built suburbs are getting hit the hardest because there's basically zero visibility after dark.

Pastor Busani Moyo from the local pastors' group said better lighting will help shut down nighttime crime like housebreaking. Residents backed the move since walking around after sunset has turned sketchy, and criminals are using the darkness as cover. Local businessman Remember Ndou wants the council to hire legit contractors with solid track records instead of sketchy operators.
