A court in Bekwai has sent three armed robbers to prison for 20 years each after they attacked travelers and stole money and phones. Judge Appiatu convicted Peter Boadi, Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso on robbery and conspiracy charges on Monday.
The men attacked victims near Jacobu on April 29, 2024, taking two iPhones and 7,000 cedis in cash. They also threatened a Chinese traveler at gunpoint and forced him to send 30,000 cedis through mobile money to another suspect.
Police arrested the three men between June and September 2024 through intelligence work. Officers found two pistols and ammunition at Boadi's home in Obuasi.
The court ruled that the prosecutors proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt. Police praised their investigators and promised more operations against highway robbers across the Ashanti Region and beyond.
