Bellingham scores as Dortmund beats Sundowns 4-3 in thriller

Jobe Bellingham netted his first goal for Borussia Dortmund as they fought back to beat Mamelodi Sundowns 4-3 at the Club World Cup. The young midfielder started his first game since joining from Sunderland for 27 million pounds earlier this month. Dortmund struggled early as the South African team looked sharp and dangerous going forward. Sundowns took control of the match and created several good chances to score more goals. The German side needed to dig deep to turn things around.

Lucas Ribeiro Costa put Sundowns ahead after just 11 minutes with a brilliant solo run from midfield. The striker picked up the ball in the center circle and raced past two defenders before beating goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Sundowns keeper Ronwen Williams handed Dortmund an easy equalizer when he passed straight to Felix Nmecha. Julian Brandt crossed for Serhou Guirassy to head home what proved to be the winning goal. Bellingham controlled the ball in the penalty area and fired past Williams to make it 3-1 before halftime.

Sundowns kept pushing forward after the break and created more scoring opportunities. An unfortunate deflection off defender Khuliso Mudau gave Dortmund their fourth goal of the evening. Iqraam Rayners pulled one back for the South Africans when he bundled the ball home from close range. Substitute Lebo Mothiba scored with just minutes remaining to set up a tense finish. Dortmund held on to secure three points and move to the top of Group F.
