Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still hiring, is this game real

Ubisoft just posted a job listing for a technical sound designer to work on Beyond Good and Evil 2 at their Montpellier studio. The person they hire will handle audio integration and make sure everything from voice acting to vehicle sounds actually functions properly under the audio director.

The fact that they're still hiring basic technical roles after nearly two decades of development is pretty rough. The project got teased way back in 2008 and has been through absolute hell since then. Series creator Michel Ancel bounced in 2020 and quit gaming entirely. Managing director Guillame Carmona left in 2023, and creative director Emile Morel passed away that same year.

Despite all that chaos, Ubisoft hasn't killed the project yet. They brought in Fawzi Mesmar as the new creative director last year. Meanwhile, they at least managed to ship the 20th Anniversary Edition of the first game with 4K support and 60fps.
