BISP Chairperson Praises Heroic Volunteer Hilal Khan for Rescue Efforts in Swat River Tragedy

A government official traveled to Swat on Sunday to meet a local hero. Senator Rubina Khalid chairs the Benazir Income Support Programme. President Asif Ali Zardari and party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sent her on this mission. She wanted to honor Hilal Khan for his brave actions during a recent river disaster. The visit happened two days after the tragic event.

Fourteen tourists from Sialkot died when flood waters swept them away. The family was eating breakfast near the river when water levels rose quickly. Official rescue workers could not reach the scene fast enough. Hilal Khan jumped into action with a small boat he made himself. He fought strong water currents to save lives and recover bodies.

Khalid praised Khan for his heroic efforts and caring nature. She called him the face of humanity and said he acted when people needed help most. The senator told local residents that top party leaders felt moved about Khan's courage. They wanted her to meet him personally and offer government support. She promised to help strengthen volunteer rescue teams across the region.

The Sindh Government will send equipment and supplies to local rescue volunteers. Khalid also gave Khan 100,000 rupees from her personal money. She said this payment would help him buy basic rescue gear for future emergencies. The senator described her gift as a small contribution to volunteer work in Swat. Local rescue efforts will receive more resources through this new partnership.
