Black Queens confident of victory in WAFCON opener

Ghana's women's soccer team prepares to shock everyone at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren believes his Black Queens squad can beat every single team despite what critics think. The team faces defending champions South Africa at Honneur Stadium today. Most experts consider Ghana longshots to win the whole thing. Bjorkegren refuses to let outside opinions discourage his players.

The Black Queens made their comeback to this competition back during 2018 after missing previous tournaments. Ghana desperately wants to prove they belong among Africa's elite women's teams. Their coach keeps telling reporters that his squad has enough talent to surprise people. Bjorkegren admits other countries probably have better reputations and more recognition. He still thinks his team can outplay anyone when the games actually start.

South Africa won the last tournament and brings back most of their championship roster. Ghana knows they face a tough challenge right from their opening match. The game kicks off at four o'clock this afternoon local time. Bjorkegren has spent months preparing his players for this exact moment. He wants his team to show the continent that Ghana belongs among the top nations again.
