Bloody chaos grips Ablekuma North rerun as Manasseh Azure Awuni rages

Prominent investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni slammed the brutal mayhem that erupted during Ghana's Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun. Thugs attacked multiple victims including former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson and working journalists during the Friday July 11 voting exercise. The chaos unfolded across 19 polling stations with St. Peter's Polling Station becoming a major flashpoint for the ugliness. Officials suspended voting for several hours before security reinforcements arrived to restore order. The violence forced election workers to halt proceedings while authorities scrambled to contain the situation.

Awuni fired back against the electoral brutality through a blistering social media post on Saturday July 12. The respected journalist branded the recurring pattern of election violence as proof that society had abandoned basic human decency during political contests. He blasted the notion that citizens must resort to maiming and killing fellow Ghanaians just to select parliamentary representatives. Awuni declared such barbaric behavior falls far below acceptable standards for civilized human conduct. His harsh words targeted the culture of political violence that continues plaguing Ghana's democratic processes.

The journalist delivered a scathing rebuke against partisan hypocrisy surrounding electoral violence across different constituencies. Awuni warned political supporters against cheering when violence benefits their candidates while condemning identical attacks when they become targets. He argued such double standards make Ghanaians appear subhuman to international observers watching from abroad. The veteran reporter specifically referenced the Ayawaso West Wuogon incident to highlight how partisans flip their positions based on political convenience. Meanwhile the National Democratic Congress candidate Ewurabena Aubynn claimed victory in the rerun election held in areas where 2024 results remained uncertified due to earlier violence.
