BNP Proposes Two-Term Limit for Prime Minister, Discusses Elections with EU Ambassador

BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury spoke with European Union Ambassador Michael Miller at a political office meeting. The BNP official discussed his party's plan to limit prime ministers to two terms. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia first suggested this idea eight years ago. She made the proposal part of her Vision 2030 plan for Bangladesh. Chowdhury said no further agreement was needed on this matter.

The two officials talked about elections planned for February. Miller expressed hope that Bangladesh would return to democracy through quick voting. The EU ambassador wanted to know about BNP plans for helping workers earn better wages. European officials work on problems that affect Bangladeshi workers and their rights. The discussion covered ways to improve worker conditions across the country.

Miller promised the EU would help make future parliament activities more transparent. The ambassador said European officials want to work closely with Bangladesh's next elected government. Both leaders agreed that parliament should operate with clear rules and open processes. The meeting also covered plans to make the court system more honest. Chowdhury said transparency in the judiciary was important for both sides.

BNP Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid attended the political office meeting. The discussion lasted several hours at the Gulshan location. Media cell member Shyrul Kabir Khan confirmed the meeting details to reporters. The talks focused on democratic reforms and worker protection issues. Both officials agreed to continue future discussions about Bangladesh's political development.
