Bob Manuel Udokwu denies calling Pete Edochie a Nollywood fraud

Actor Bob-Manuel Udokwu refuted claims that he criticized colleague Pete Edochie for misrepresenting his status as Nollywood's oldest performer. The actor addressed NollyNow during a recent interview to correct misinterpretations of his previous podcast statements. Udokwu emphasized that media reports falsely attributed derogatory remarks to him regarding the veteran performer. He clarified that his original comments referred to career timelines within the modern Nollywood framework rather than personal attacks. The Special Adviser on Entertainment to Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo stressed his profound respect for Edochie as a cultural elder deserving honor.

Udokwu explained that his acting career began within Nollywood before Edochie joined the industry, though the senior actor had already completed acclaimed projects like Things Fall Apart. He noted that Edochie's earlier productions occurred before Nollywood was established as a recognized film industry. The actor referenced similar observations made by colleague Kanayo O. Kanayo regarding industry chronology. Udokwu dismissed viral reports attempting to create conflict between the respected performers. He maintained that African traditions require reverence for senior figures, regardless of their professional circumstances.
