Bodies of Vanished Cops Emerge From River

South African police search for answers after finding three missing officers dead in a river. Boipelo Senoge, 20, Cebekhulu Linda, 24, and Keamogetswe Buys, 30, vanished last Wednesday after leaving a gas station near Johannesburg. Divers discovered their bodies about 43 miles away in the Hennops River. Workers pulled their white VW Polo from the same river on Thursday. Their tracking device and phones went silent after they disappeared.

Search teams worked through the night, looking across three provinces before spotting parts of a vehicle in the water. They also found a Renault Kangoo van nearby with two additional bodies inside. One body belonged to an unnamed police employee who drove the van. The fifth body remains unidentified because of decomposition. Police cannot confirm if these other deaths are connected to the officers.

The public followed the case closely, sharing prayers for the missing officers on social media. Family members gathered with candles along the riverbank after hearing the news. Police chief Fannie Masemola said it appears to be an accident, but forensic tests must finish first. This statement changes his earlier warning to criminals who might have kidnapped officers.
