Bombay High Court directs CBFC to decide Ajey film release by August 6

The Bombay High Court ordered the Central Board of Film Certification to complete its review process for the biographical film about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The court established August 6, 2025, as the deadline for the certification board to communicate its final decision regarding the movie titled Ajey. Samrat Cinematics produced the biographical work with contributions from over 300 film industry professionals. The judicial panel criticized the certification board for adopting improper procedures when rejecting the application on July 21, 2025. The court emphasized that the board violated established protocols under the Cinematograph Act during its initial assessment.

The judges noted that biographical films about prime ministers and other constitutional office holders have received approval previously. The court clarified that the certification board cannot reject content based solely on public objections. The motion poster depicts the chief minister's journey from his early spiritual pursuits as a Nathpanthi Yogi to his current political leadership role. The film chronicles his decision to embrace religious renunciation and subsequent evolution into a prominent political figure. The production house expressed confidence that the judiciary would ensure fair treatment for their creative project.
