Does ageism affect either Zimdancehall artists or Zim Hip Hop rappers as they progress with their music careers later on somewhere around say, late 30s or early 40s.

If we establish that Zim Hip Hop (or Zimdaansaal music) should be a young man's sport, then it will push the idea where older Zim musicians like Stunner (Desmond Chideme), Winky D, Roki, ExQ are dinosaurs who should call it quits.

I don't think that type of thinking makes sense since some of them have got a vibrant and loyal music fan base within Zimbabwe and the diaspora.

Yes, it does.

The Zimbabwean genre of music where I don't see this playing out is probably Sungura music.

An example is how Alick Macheso has been relevant within Zim's music industry making Sungura music and that's longer than any Zimdancehall artist you can think of.

Sex appeal is often used by some female Zim Hip Hop rappers and Zimdancehall artists to grab the attention of even more eyeballs but how long can you sustain a music career doing that stuff? You see....

Would you say female Zimdancehall artists should switch up their style when they hit 30 to something more befitting and less lewd?

What you are asking is a catch 22 situation.

'Cause if you build your music career on the edgy side of things you will have a fan base who are tuned into that style or look.

So then trying out new things can be detrimental to your previous efforts making you go back to square one. It's hustling backwards.

Re-branding in the business of music is something which can be done successfully, although planning and execution is an area that will require informed minds to put together a good marketing campaign.

Well, many Zimdancehall artists that you see don't have solid team behind them because they can't even afford to maintain their lifestyle to begin with.

The Zim situation is upside down economically.
