Bridge Bombing Sends Russian Train Off Rails

A bridge collapsed onto railway tracks near Vygonichsky district. The area sits within the Bryansk region. A passenger train traveled from Klimov to Moscow when it derailed. Seven people died and 69 others suffered injuries. Three children were among those who got hurt.

Three victims remain critically ill. One of those serious cases involves a child. Medical staff hospitalized 44 people for treatment. Governor Alexander Bogomaz shared this information through his Telegram channel. He provided updates about the situation to the public.

Russian Railways said someone interfered with transport operations illegally. They blamed the collapse on this interference. Governor Bogomaz believes someone blew up the bridge deliberately. His preliminary investigation suggests unknown people planted four bombs. They placed explosive devices on the bridge support and railway sleepers.

March brought similar incidents when unknown people made bomb threats. Three major St. Petersburg facilities received these threats. The threats targeted important locations around the city. Authorities investigated these earlier incidents. The pattern suggests ongoing security concerns across different regions.
