British F-35B fighter jet cleared to depart Thiruvananthapuram after month-long stay

Engineers from America and Britain completed repairs on a stranded military aircraft at Thiruvananthapuram airport. The F-35B Lightning II fighter experienced hydraulic system problems during its return from naval exercises with India. British authorities granted flight clearance after specialists examined the fifth-generation warplane. The jet belongs to HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group and possesses vertical takeoff abilities. Repair teams will depart Monday while the aircraft flies Tuesday.

Initial maintenance efforts failed to restore the fighter's operational status. A fourteen-member technical crew from Lockheed Martin and Royal Navy succeeded where earlier attempts had not. The aircraft remained immobile since June 14 after emergency landing procedures. Officials refuse to disclose whether the jet will rejoin its carrier group or return to Britain directly. Social media users created numerous jokes about the extended stay.

Kerala Tourism capitalized on the unusual situation by creating promotional content. The state's marketing campaign featured humorous reviews supposedly written by the grounded fighter jet. Public attention focused on the rare military visitor throughout its month-long presence.
