Bualoi shreds Biliran as the Philippines mourns 11 dead

Severe Tropical Storm Bualoi claimed 11 lives across the Philippines before moving toward Vietnam on Saturday. Central Philippine islands faced destruction Friday as the cyclone toppled infrastructure and forced 400,000 people from their homes. Biliran island recorded eight deaths and two missing persons in the worst-affected area. Masbate and Ticao islands reported three additional fatalities from wind-related accidents.

Search teams continue looking for 14 missing people while 200,000 evacuees remain in temporary shelters. Weather services tracked the storm across the South China Sea with sustained winds reaching 120 kilometers per hour. Forecasters expect Bualoi to approach Vietnam's coastline by Sunday afternoon. The cyclone arrived weeks after Super Typhoon Ragasa killed 14 people in northern Philippine provinces.
