Police report a suspected murder-suicide that rocked the Bulaga community in Wakiso District Friday night. Officers first heard about a man who killed himself near Bulaga Daily Market around 10:30 pm. When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered he had murdered his girlfriend before ending his life.
Police identified the victims as casual workers Mayanja Umar and Namakula Sumaya, also known as Nakijjoba Jackie. Metropolitan spokesperson Patrick Onyango said their investigation shows Mayanja attacked Namakula with a hammer and knives before going to an empty room nearby. He reportedly bought ropes from a local shop, which he used to hang himself. Both bodies went to the city mortuary for medical examination.
