Bulawayo unveils Ascot Precinct Plan for luxury homes, mall, and 400-room hotel

Bulawayo City Council advances plans for a massive development project on the former Ascot Racecourse site. The 68-hectare Ascot Precinct Plan will feature luxury residential units, commercial spaces, and hospitality facilities. Officials designed the project to transform the city's urban landscape while preserving the area's historical significance. The development draws inspiration from successful African commercial centers like Mall of Africa and Two Rivers.

Town Planning Department representative Shelton Sithole presented the proposals to local stakeholders during recent meetings. The project centers on a 400-room luxury hotel with modern conference facilities to address accommodation shortages. Developers will construct an upmarket shopping mall, office park, and recreational amenities within the precinct. The strategic location connects established neighborhoods through enhanced transportation networks.

Council expects the development to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities for residents. The project addresses multiple urban challenges through integrated healthcare facilities and sports venues. Officials anticipate the precinct will become a landmark destination attracting regional visitors and business activities.
