Bulawayo wife gambles husband’s cash, court gives her broom duty

A Bulawayo resident ended up doing community service at a primary school after she blew through her husband's cash on card games around town. Simeleni Dube from Nketa 8 got handed 105 hours of cleanup duty when she admitted to losing the entire stash, and the magistrate suspended part of her jail time on the condition that she stays out of trouble for five years.

Her husband, Tawanda Mugodhi, had given her the money to hold onto at their place, but when he asked for it back a few days later, she claimed she lent it out before eventually confessing to the gambling loss. Mugodhi told the court he forgave her and did not want her forced to pay anything back since she has no income.
