Buni Leads Epic Push to Rescue Lake Chad Basin

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni wants Lake Chad Basin countries to work together better. He chairs the Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum and met with leaders at the commission headquarters in Chad's capital. The meeting followed up on their fifth governors meeting held earlier in Maiduguri. Leaders want to match their 2025-2026 action plan with commission goals.

Governors agreed to make the Multi National Joint Task Force stronger and build more roads between countries. They plan to raise money through special funds for development projects. The forum will help communities accept former fighters back into society. Leaders also want to stop young people from joining radical groups and reduce illegal gun sales.

Officials approved a new strategy to help the region recover and stay strong. They started projects to restore Lake Chad's environment and economy. The early warning system will help predict problems before they happen. These programs aim to help people make better livings near the lake.

Chad's N'Djamena governor Amina Kodjiana praised the forum's work. Lake Chad Basin Commission leader Mamman Nuhu said countries must keep working together. Both officials promised to help Governor Buni achieve regional peace and shared success.
