Buni shuts down Yobe's boarding schools over security fears

Yobe State has suspended operations at every boarding secondary school within its borders as authorities respond to escalating national security threats. Governor Mai Mala Buni issued the emergency directive through the education ministry, emphasizing the protection of young people as the primary motivation for the measure.

School principals received instructions to implement the shutdown without delay, with facilities remaining shuttered until conditions stabilize. The permanent secretary for basic and secondary education confirmed that administrators must enforce the mandate strictly while officials monitor the situation for signs of improvement that would permit students to return to campus.
