Businessman Denies Paying 300k Lobola for His Beloved Wife

Prominent businessman Wicknel Chivhayo has emphatically rejected widespread rumors suggesting he paid an extravagant USD 300,000 as lobola for his wife, Lulu. Addressing the sensational claims directly, Chivhayo provided a detailed account challenging the financial narrative circulating through public channels.

According to Chivhayo, his actual lobola transaction involved a significantly lower amount. He explained that his family's representatives negotiated a bride price of USD$20,000 with his wife's family. The businessman further clarified that the individual tasked with delivering funds had confirmed the settlement using only the agreed-upon amount.

Chivhayo asserted that the remaining funds were returned as change, effectively dispelling speculation about an astronomical lobola payment. His transparent communication aims to quash misrepresentations and provide context around cultural marriage practices often sensationalized by media narratives.

The businessman's swift response demonstrates a commitment to controlling public perception and maintaining personal reputation. By directly addressing and dismantling exaggerated financial claims, Chivhayo seeks to redirect attention from sensationalist rumors to factual circumstances surrounding his marriage.
