Caleb Amisi declares ODM dead as Sifuna and Wanga factions clash

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi declared that the Orange Democratic Movement faces severe internal problems requiring immediate leadership intervention. The legislator described the party's current state as resembling a funeral celebration where members await final burial ceremonies. Amisi urged young supporters to maintain respect for party leader Raila Odinga despite ideological differences. He emphasized that Odinga deserves recognition for his historical democratic contributions even when disagreements arise. The MP criticized the youth who attacked Odinga through social media platforms.

Regional divisions between Western and Nyanza factions threaten the party's unity after twenty-two years of existence. Secretary General Edwin Sifuna opposes supporting President Ruto's 2027 reelection campaign, while Odinga suggests potential backing. Parallel meetings occurred in Kakamega and Muhoroni constituencies, with opposing camps expressing conflicting positions. Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga challenged Sifuna's stance on the government agreement. Odinga plans to convene a Central Management Committee meeting to resolve these internal disputes and establish a unified party direction.
