Cassava opens Africa GPU service

Cassava Technologies, as the first NVIDIA Cloud Partner in Africa, is advancing a project to create the continent's initial network GPU-as-a-Service. The company is establishing secure data center facilities in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco for this purpose. Cassava Technologies President and Group CEO Hardy Pemhiwa stated that the initiative aims to empower African businesses to become innovators in artificial intelligence rather than just consumers. He emphasized the goal of enabling the continent to develop its own AI future using local languages, data, and computing infrastructure.

This local deployment of high-performance computing is positioned to be a significant development for the region. It is designed to allow entrepreneurs, governments, and enterprises to create and implement AI solutions more cost-effectively and with greater sovereignty. The service intends to democratize access to advanced AI computing capacity. This effort supports the company's broader objective of fostering a digitally connected future for Africa.
