Celebrities in South Africa are under siege as burglars loot stars' homes

South African entertainers have become prime targets for criminal gangs who strike when stars least expect attacks on their personal sanctuaries. The crime wave has devastated household names across the music and entertainment industries during recent years. Burglars have ransacked celebrity homes while stealing valuable equipment, irreplaceable creative works, and personal belongings worth hundreds of thousands of rands. Famous victims include Amapiano producer Deep London who lost studio gear valued at over 200,000 rands during an April 2024 break-in. DJ Tira suffered similar devastation when thieves invaded his Durban headquarters and made off with expensive music equipment.

Singer Busiswa faced heartbreak after criminals stole nearly ten years of unreleased tracks from her home studio during a 2021 invasion. Young Stunna expressed disbelief on social media after discovering intruders had violated his residence during July. The most shocking incident involved 87-year-old cultural icon Dr Esther Mahlangu who endured a traumatic attack where criminals tied her up before stealing cash and firearms. Radio personality Dineo Ranaka survived a terrifying early morning assault where armed robbers restrained her while her children slept nearby.

Rapper Nasty C faced gunpoint threats during a 2017 home invasion that netted criminals nearly 800,000 rands in valuables. Media personality Khaya Dlanga discovered his apartment had been burglarized while he enjoyed a yacht trip. Kwesta learned about his Midrand home break-in while performing at an awards ceremony. Producer TNS also fell victim to similar criminal activity targeting entertainment industry figures.
