Lightning killed an 11-year-old child and injured a 9-year-old sibling while the pair played outdoors during a rainstorm at Grantley mine compound in Chakari, a gold mining area in Mashonaland West province. The younger child regained consciousness following the strike and alerted family members to the incident.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Ian Kohwera confirmed authorities transported the deceased to Kadoma General Hospital mortuary after receiving a report at the Chakari station.
