Chaos halts Kisoro count with Seruganda leading by 203 votes

Vote counting for the National Resistance Movement parliamentary candidate selection in Bufumbira South constituency has halted pending guidance from party leadership. District officials suspended tallying after seven polling stations among 148 total locations experienced disruptions during the Thursday elections. Registrar Tadeo Mujambere distributed preliminary results to leading contenders Sam Kwizera Bitangaro and Eng. Alex Niyonsaba Seruganda before scheduling a Friday afternoon meeting. Security forces dispersed supporters with tear gas during the closed-door discussions at the district headquarters. Deputy Resident District Commissioner Robert Tukamuhebwa announced that the national electoral commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, will determine the path forward for the affected areas requiring potential re-voting. Early tallies reveal Alex Niyonsaba Seruganda leads with 22,441 votes against Sam Kwizera Bitangaro's 22,238 votes, creating a narrow 203-vote margin between the frontrunners.
