Chegutu's new Knockmalloch town is almost ready for movers

Zimbabwe advances toward affordable housing goals through the Knockmalloch development project in Chegutu. Urban Development Corporation leads this initiative under President Mnangagwa's administration. The government has reached more than 70 percent of its revised one million housing unit target by the second quarter of this year. This achievement surpasses the original 220,000 unit goal established under National Development Strategy 1. Officials describe the comprehensive development as a self-contained community.

The project will deliver approximately 3,000 serviced residential plots across multiple density classifications. High-density sections approach 85 percent completion with 700 available stands. Medium and low-density areas feature larger plot allocations ranging from 400 to 2,000 square meters. Commercial and institutional spaces complement the residential components. The development supports Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 objectives for upper middle-income status achievement.
