Cherargei warns planners of Gen Z demos will pay

Senator Samson Cherargei wants protest organizers to face consequences if people die during the June 25 demonstrations. The Nandi lawmaker said anyone who plans or pays for the Gen Z protests must take responsibility for deaths or property damage. Cherargei reminded everyone that the Constitution allows peaceful protests but also protects citizens from harm. He warned protesters to stay away from State House because it remains off-limits under the law. The senator also pushed for government action against organizations that support the demonstrations.

Cherargei called for authorities to shut down activist groups that promote violent protests across Kenya. He believes these organizations create instability and should lose their official registration. The UDA-allied politician made these comments as young people prepare for nationwide demonstrations against police brutality. Many activists want Wednesday to become a day of remembrance for those killed during last year's protests. Government officials have already said they will not permit public gatherings on that date.

Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura told citizens that June 25 will remain a normal work day. He said people can remember the day privately at home but cannot hold public protests. Mwaura blamed criminals for hijacking peaceful demonstrations and turning them violent. He reminded police officers to protect all Kenyans without political bias. The spokesperson warned that protesters cannot carry weapons or provoke law enforcement during any gatherings.
