Chevrons gear up for a packed season with SA and NZ

Zimbabwe's cricket team, the Chevrons, will host New Zealand and South Africa for a T20 tri-nations tournament. The exciting matches run from July 14 through July 26. South Africa arrives early since they play two test matches against Zimbabwe first. These test games happen before all three countries battle in the shorter T20 format.

The test matches between Zimbabwe and South Africa take place at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Players compete in the first match from June 28 through July 2. After a short break, they return for the second match from July 6 to July 10. When these longer games finish, all teams head to Harare for the fast-paced T20 matches.

Harare Sports Club becomes cricket central when South Africa faces Zimbabwe on July 14. Two days later, on July 16, New Zealand plays South Africa. The Chevrons jump back into action against New Zealand on July 18. Zimbabwe then meets South Africa again on July 20 for their second matchup.

The excitement continues when South Africa plays New Zealand again on July 22. Zimbabwe finishes the group games by taking on New Zealand on July 24. The tournament ends with a bang on July 26, when the top two teams from the round-robin stage face off in the final game.

Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni called this the biggest home season in years. He sees it as a great chance for Zimbabwean players to test themselves against world cricket powers. Makoni expressed how fantastic this is for growing cricket in Zimbabwe. He mentioned that they look forward to welcoming the teams and putting on a great show for passionate cricket fans.

Zimbabwe last hosted a three-nation T20 tournament in July 2018. That event featured Australia and Pakistan as visiting teams. Pakistan emerged victorious in that competition.
