Chimwendo Banda calls DPP roads inferior to Muluzi's

Richard Chimwendo Banda rejected accusations that political neglect caused M1 Road construction delays. The Local Government Minister and MCP Secretary General stated that sustainable infrastructure takes priority over quick political victories. Banda expressed confidence that the Malawi Congress Party will win the 2025 elections without requiring a second round. He emphasized that MCP builds support through grassroots efforts rather than social media campaigns. The party achieved success during voter registration through strong ground-level organization.

The minister defended complex infrastructure projects like the M1 Road connecting Karonga to Lilongwe. He argued that quality construction requires adequate planning time and proper implementation. Banda criticized former administrations for pursuing rapid campaign projects that produced inferior results. He compared the durability of Muluzi's Midima road against deteriorating DPP infrastructure. The government constructed over 240 health facilities and provided agricultural loans to farmers while developing plans for tourism, mining, and value-added industries.
