Chinese docs heal Zimbabwe for 40 years straight

Chinese doctors from Hunan Province have helped Zimbabwe's hospitals for 40 years. More than 200 medical workers served the southern African nation since 1985. Team leader Zheng Xingyou leads 11 doctors who arrived from top Chinese hospitals during March. One traditional medicine expert worked nine years straight helping local patients. The teams face power cuts and water shortages but love treating sick people.

Doctor Li Jie started remote training programs at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. Local medical staff learn new skills through computer classes with Chinese experts. Trainee Leocadia Basera says hands-on lessons help her understand difficult medical concepts better. Chinese teams built a clinical training center to teach more local doctors advanced techniques. The program raises medical standards across Zimbabwe's health system.

Traditional Chinese medicine centers opened across the country starting from 2020. Health Ministry director Onias Ndoro says these clinics filled major gaps between regular treatments. Patients book appointments more than one month ahead because demand stays very high. The ministry wants more traditional medicine clinics opening around different regions. Chinese medical cooperation helps Zimbabwe offer diverse healthcare options to all citizens.
