Chinhoyi gets two new compactors as city fights garbage crisis

Chinhoyi Municipality received two compactor vehicles from the Government to address persistent waste collection problems. The local authority struggled with garbage removal services due to frequent breakdowns of aging equipment. Acting Town Clerk Engineer Simon Marara confirmed the Ministry of Local Government provided the vehicles as a loan while municipal compactors undergo repairs. The arrangement requires payment of operational costs and driver fees during the lending period. Residents must fulfill their billing obligations to sustain these enhanced services.

Mayor Owen Charuza approached the Ministry about equipment challenges and requested temporary vehicle support. The municipality gained approval to service existing compactors through Croco Motors in Kadoma during this arrangement. Two borrowed vehicles currently perform waste collection duties effectively throughout the city. Croco Motors assured municipal officials that repaired compactors will return to service next week. The combined fleet will provide improved garbage collection capacity for residents when all vehicles become operational.
